Singura modalitate de a descoperi efectele in cazul diverselor materiale si culori este de a le testa, experimentand pe principiul "incercare si eroare"
Incearca diferite tipuri de hartie pentru pastel, cum ar fi cea aspra, neteda sau Ingres. Ele sunt ideale nu doar pentru pasteluri, ci si pentru creioanele colorate.
